Tonsils are overrated

Unfortunately G had to kick off her Christmas vacation by having her tonsils and adenoids removed today. We all arrived at the hospital at 8am and she was in pretty good spirits. Her Mimi stocked her up with crayons, a doodle pad, and some fuzzy red slippers...G was all set.

A few callers wishing her well certainly helped to take her mind off the task at hand.

There were tons of other tonsil patients this morning too, so we had quite the wait before G even got to go back to the holding room to get her IV. Thankfully we have several good friends that work at the hospital and they were G's nurses. We were confident that she was in good hands!! They finally called her back to surgery a little before 11am and the entire process may have taken about 30 minutes. The nurses let us know that everything went well and that they were just going to wait and let her wake up on her own so she wouldn't be so grumpy. They called Husband back to be there when she woke up and wheeled her back to her room. This was the pitiful look she had when Mimi, Diva and I were able to go up.

She was already munching on some ice and even felt like drinking some Gatorade and eating a cup of jello. Believe it or not, she cracked a smile and actually talked to us a little bit. The one person she did ask to see was Big Sister. (So Sweet!) The nurse came back to make sure she'd finished her liquids and then she was able to go home. We were able to head out about 1:30.

She really did well today and is excited about the days of laying on the couch, watching Christmas movies and eating popcicles and chocolate ice cream that are to come! We certainly appreciate all of you that kept little G in your prayers today and those that called to check on her. Please continue to pray that the rest of her recovery process goes just as smoothly.
