Waist up formal

Hubs had a friend that turned the big 4-0 back in February so, to commemorate this joyous milestone, a small group of friends took a little weekend get away to a cabin in North Georgia. 

This is the back of said cabin...not sure why we failed to take one of the front?

Oh, wait! I know! 

Because the Birthday Boy commandeered my camera and had a fun little photo shoot with some of the other boys.

In reality though, it was the mack-daddy of all cabins. There was no 'roughing it' in this castle!

Just check out our dining room! This called for a SPECIAL birthday dinner! 

Formal, even!

The girls baked a homemade, from scratch, birthday cake!

And everyone had their own dish to prepare.

Twice baked potatoes...

Fillets grilled to perfection...

And me? Well, someone had to document THIS!

(We were at a cabin in the middle of nowhere after all! Lets not get too crazy!)

Bow ties. Check!

Snazzy tops with pajama bottoms. Check!

My favorite knee-high house shoes? Duh, of course!

We rocked the waist up formal like no body's business!

The birthday boy even broke out his wedding vest and jacket for the special occasion.

This could go down as one of our best ideas ever!

It was time for the cake.

This was Vickie's famous recipe so we had to conference her in on the singing of Happy Birthday and ultimate cake presentation. 

To which the birthday boy (who is now dead to me) replied, 

"It looks like it was made by a bunch of girls that don't cook much....

...but it tastes good!"

Weekend in the ATL

 Don't you just love how its practically Christmas and I'm still talking about our summer?!? 

Back in August, Smalls spent the some time with Honey and Papa so that Husband and I could have a diaper-free weekend. I broke out the cute shoes and said a (temporary) farewell to my favorite yoga pants for a fun weekend with friends in Atlanta. 

First stop was at Corner Arts Gallery  in Newnan, Georgia to explore our creative side. 

Please note the painting in the background. That was the "couples" painting we were striving to recreate. 

Of course the guys took things very serious!

Then we wrapped things up with a Matchbox 20 concert. 

Oh, and just in case you were wondering...

What's the haps

It is my goal to catch up on November's happenings before the end of November. We shall see how well I do. Deep breath in...and here goes nothin'. (PS-I'm refusing to spell check and proof read this one...Be Ye Warned!)

The first weekend of the month was most definitely classified as Birthday Weekend. That Friday night, Diva had some friends over to spend the night...and let me tell you just how loud 16-year-olds can be! Wowza! They watched movies, drove around on the golf cart, and stayed up chatting and giggling till the weeeeee hours of the morning. Saturday morning I woke up and drove to meet my friend Kim who made Diva's cake pops! Please look how fabulous they turned out!!!

Needless to say, Diva was surprised and her friends were rather impressed. AND they were seriously delicious!!! Thanks Kim!

Saturday the 5th was Husband's actual birthday and, as he has decided that he is now old enough to drink coffee, we met some of our friends at the local coffee shop to start his day off right! After a night of girls, he needed the coffee!

The next weekend was TROY's homecoming. We began the weekend with a steak dinner at a friend's house (who cooks so well that you can cut his steaks with a fork!!!) on Friday night. We then migrated over to the home of the Walkers to catch up with our Atlanta and Newnan friends. It is always such a fun time visiting with friends that we don't get to see often enough.

The homecoming game started at noon on Saturday so we had to get there to tailgate pretty early. Husband drove the electric car (read: golf cart) over from our new house. Now this may sound pretty simple, however, I'm fairly certain it was illegal. While, yes, this is a street legal cart...I'm pretty sure its not legal to the streets that he had to cross to get it to campus. Thank goodness no one was harmed (or arrested) in this transportation process! I am ashamed to say that out of all the tailgating that we did, I only managed to take one picture, and that was with some of my sorority sisters at the Chi O tent.

After the game the 15 of us that had been tailgating went out to dinner, and then Sunday morning the whole gang came over to our house for breakfast before we all had to go our separate ways. There is nothing better than getting to spend a weekend with such dear friends! It was like we didn't want it to end so we just kept eating!!!

The next weekend, my parents are coming down and we're doing some nursery projects! Stay tuned for pictures...

BFF from college. Co-founder of the High Energy Night Diet. Maid of honor at my wedding. And quite possibly the best dance partner known to man! Just sayin'

We can solve all the world's troubles over a glass of wine, cup of Joe, or both depending on how late we stay up! (I'll substitute water for the vino on this trip, no worries!) It has been too long since we've gotten together and I can't wait!

Journey

During our last visit with our ATL friends, we discussed an upcoming Journey concert that would take place in September. It was then decided that it was a must to come back for, and that was that. Summer flew by and concert time was here before we knew it. Thankfully my new meds arrived just in time to let me feel like going.

The best idea was to get a van and driver for all of us to go together. Not having to fight parking or maneuver traffic was brilliant! Extra points to J.R. for that plan!

We had lawn tickets and got there in perfect time to declare our spots and set up camp. You may recognize most of these faces from our New Year's trip at the cabin.

Husband and I danced to "Open Arms" like we were at a 1982 prom.

The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all!
