Red's

I keep forgetting to tell you about our trip to Red's Little School House Restaurant! A couple of weekends ago. Husband and I, along with the rest of his family, took a trip to visit his youngest brother and our sister-in-law and see their new home. I do wish I had the before and after pictures of their house to show you because the 'before' paint colors alone were...um...well...lets just call them creative! :)

After our tour, we had a Father's day/June birthday celebration complete with the best homemade chocolate cake in the world! Then it was time for dinner! (Kudos to whoever decided to have dessert first! You're my hero!!!)

**I will apologize for the terrible pictures lately. It is just so much easier to take a quick picture with my phone and email it to myself than to download my camera. I know, lazy...whatever...**

The specials were written on the chalk board, but after passing the buffet, I knew what I was having!!

Our place mats were maps of the area. Apparently, I'm terrible with maps because it took me forever just to figure out where we were!

The old tables and chairs added to the atmosphere of the place.

Entertainment for the evening came in the form of our cook. She came out to check on us several times and even sang one and a half songs...until she was called away because something was burning on the stove!

AND the deliciousness that was on the buffet could have been prepared by your very own grandmother! Of course, most everything is fried (as we are in the south), but it is soul food and that's good for you every once and a while! Red's is certainly a place you should experience if ever you have the opportunity.

Three little reasons I love summer

1.) Zinnias on my windowsill

2.) Sunflowers from our flower garden

3.) Peach tea made with fresh peaches from the farmers market!

What are some of your favorite little things about summer?

My work phone

This is the screen of my work phone. Please note the screen message left by the IT Guy.

You know what, Mr. IT Guy? I think you're da bomb too! Thanks for fixing my phone and leaving a fun little message.

4-H Camp

G could hardly sleep last night knowing that bright and early this morning she would be leaivng for 4-H Camp! She has been talking about camp for months and we finally got the info packet in the mail with all the details. You would have thought it was Christmas in our house! She was thrilled! This is a right of passage that G has been waiting for ever since Sister got to go. We went over her list and made sure she had packed all the necessary camp items: flash light, bug spray, sun screen, sleeping bag.... She was all set to go with her neon pink & green polka-dot suitcase!

Our only instructions were to shower daily and not pull any pranks that she saw on The Parent Trap to get her kicked out!

Tough Life

The life of Louie is a tough one. Not only does he have a new family to protect, but he also has a neighborhood to patrol and keep watch over. He's kind of a big deal around these parts. (As I found out during the neighborhood yard sale, when I saw him creeping into the back porch of another family!)

So at the end of the day, he likes to kick it on the couch with his fave. (That would be me. The one who rescued him from the streets, feeds him and, most importantly, opens the door to let him in.)
A little Criminal Minds on the tube...and this guy is all set.

He's pretty good at vegging out. Just a glance up every now and then to let me know that he totally knows who the UNSub is already.

This face says that he knows how good he's got it.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Family Night

Last night Husband's office had Family Night at the Biscuits Game! If you've never been to a game, you should put it on your list. They have the BEST ballpark food EVER! Trust me, I'm an expert!
Strawberry short cake biscuits!?!? Outstanding!

After the game, Diva drove us home. At night. On the interstate. It rained a little.
(Husband's nerves have fully recovered!)

70th Birthday Party

In the things-that-happened-in-May-that-I'm-just-now-getting-to category, my Father-in-law (who will be referred to as Grandpa) turned 70! Of course this is a big deal and was deserving of a big deal party!

Everyone, family and friends, came to celebrate with a fish fry at the cabin...

...and it looks like everyone brought something yummy with them!

Hello! Look at all this food!

And desserts!

Sweet Husband made the cake topper!

My parents even came down for the occasion! Not sure where Dad was for picture time???

Husband's side of the family--

Just the brothers and sister who may or may not be adopted---

And Mimi(MeMe) and Grandpa--

A good time was had by all and I'm pretty sure I'm STILL stuffed from all those desserts!
