Blessed beyond measure---Saturday

Husband went to Atlanta this weekend to visit some of his guy friends, so naturally I had a girls night at our house! My mom came down as did my best friend from high school and from college. We relaxed in our pjs, ate mom's homemade potato soup, laughed, and caught up on life in general. I don't know about them, but it was good for my soul to have a girls weekend and catch up with such wonderful friends.

On Saturday, they had a shower for me at our house. Everything was absolutely beautiful!

And look at this fun diaper cake! I love the owl and feathers! It is too cute to ever use the diapers out of it!!!

The food was just as delicious as it looks! These ladies really worked hard to make this such a special day for me and it was absolutely perfect!

My friend Tiffany's mom sent a fun little note with a crown attached.

And you may see the crown again during delivery! :)

Little Crumb received so many sweet gifts...this one below is a crocheted blanket (with matching hat and booties) from my amazingly talented college roommate, Erika.

This is my best friend from high school, Cassi...

...she's having a baby the end of March and my 'bump' literally sits ON TOP of her 'bump' ....that's how much taller I am!

These two sorority sisters of mine brought their new babies to show off! I still can't believe that we're in the baby phase of life now. For so long it seemed like bridal showers and bachelorette parties dominated our social calendars!

Allow me to introduce some other dear friends....

This is Heather.

My mom...if you couldn't tell :)

Kim---that makes the cake pops!

Little Kindal

Sassy, Jenni, and Tiff

Sassy...who has a real name, but Sassy just fits her better!
Such a wonderful group of women and I can't imagine my life without each and every one of them! Little Crumb is going to have the best "Aunts" ever!

RSA shower

Let me back up a bit and share pictures of the shower that Husband's office had for us on January 19th.

He has a great group of coworkers that got together and hosted and afternoon baby shower in their office.

Complete with cake, punch, and confetti!

What I thought was going to be a shower with just his area, actually turned out to be with the whole department. I was so surprised! There were people coming out from cubicles everywhere!

He works with such a supportive team of people and they certainly helped us to prepare for the Crumb's upcoming arrival!

Many thanks to Husband's wonderful coworkers for such a fun afternoon!

Weekend Projects=Nursery Update

All the rain this past weekend created the perfect excuse to stay in and get some work done! I mean, we had a serious project weekend. After all, we do have a nursery to finish up!

While Husband took care of some outside jobs, I worked to straighten up the nursery. I opened, folded and found homes for all of Crumb's gifts and then dusted, swept and mopped. After that, I moved into the living room where I had this random and uncontrollable urge to move all the furniture to vacuum and mop under and behind it. Who does that on a Saturday afternoon?!?!?

I not sure sure where this little burst of energy came from but I sure would love if it stayed around for a while!!

Husband found a window frame in what I like to call his "random stash of old stuff" that he turned into a cool mirror for the nursery. It also gave him a great excuse to use his new found love...chalk paint!

Here are a couple of other projects that we added to the wall decor.

The frame to the left was made by the most wonderful boss and his very talented wife. He made the frame from the wood of old benches that used to be by the pool at the Grand Hotel and she created the middle section, which is fused glass that was recycled from wine bottles and fired in a kiln.

The one on the right Husband and I made with an empty frame, tea olive twigs and hot glue. Easy Peasy!

Husband also salvaged an old 12 inch board from the Glass Studio which he cut into 16 inch sections. I used the chalk paint to do the birds and used some left over wall color (called lemongrass) for the verse.
Now we just need to hang them above the crib.

I did get a sneak peek at the curtains last week and I'm so excited about them! You'll have to wait for the finished project to see them! :) Oh, and we got a rug!...which I didn't take a picture of...sorry. I had wanted a large, grassy green rug, but apparently green shag is frowned upon these days. Oh, well...we found a neutral colored one that we like and we'll be able to use it after the nursery.

I feel much better now that we've gotten this much done! ...especially since February is a week away!

I'm 35 weeks and wondering how much more room this baby needs!!

The baby party

On January 14th some of our friends hosted a couples shower for us. Well, since the fellas cringed at the idea of having to go to a shower, it was renamed 'The Baby Party.' Invitations stated this party was to help feather our nest, so the cupcakes very appropriately had little nests with jelly bean eggs on top!
What a cute idea, huh?!?

We had such a great time!!! I handed my camera over to friends who documented the evening for me.

My dear friend (and former college roommate) is due exactly a month after me! She and her husband drove down from north Alabama to celebrate with us!

The activity of the night was to hand paint onesies or bibs for the baby. ...and I almost went into labor watching and laughing at the level of seriousness this activity took on.

What started out as just the girls, quickly turned into a competition with the boys.

...and the boys were rather creative.

I had to promise that the baby would wear every single outfit, in public, and that I'd take a picture of the occasion and send to the designer! :)

It was fun to look at them all and see what everyone thinks the baby will be.

...from the looks of things, everyone is guessing that its a boy!

We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends to help us prepare for the arrival of our little Crumb. Thank you all for the sweet gifts and much needed advice on how to use them :)
